In 1992, Michael Josephson, founder
of the
Josephson Institute of Ethics in Los Angeles,
California, brought together a diverse group of
educators, youth leaders, and ethicists. Their task was
to share ideas about the development of character and to
investigate ways of working together. The result was a
consensus on a set of ethical principles that would
appeal to individuals and organizations with differing
beliefs, missions and methodologies. CHARACTER COUNTS!
was established to develop these principles.
