Babysitting ABCs

An educational demand in Minnehaha County in the area of Youth Development has been training youth to be confident, knowledgeable babysitters.  Information is provided to guide the youth to better supervise children in their care. Informative handouts, knowledgeable speakers, and hands-on activities are all used in the educational process.

“Babysitting ABCs” training sessions focus on three areas to help youth become better, more responsible babysitters.  They include:

Child Development
ages and stages of development

appropriate toys
toy safety
games and activities

Nutrition, Food Safety and Food Preparation
proper nutrition
choking hazards and prevention
preparation of basic snacks and meals for children

Safety/Basic First Aid
preventing accidents from happening
what to do in case of an emergency.
